Having flat feet, ankle pain, bunions, and chronic lower back pain that needs a lot of support has, sadly, precluded me from wearing a lot of gorgeous shoes. In my wildest dreams, I'm able to dance all night, take on the notoriously jagged sidewalks of New York City, or even just walk for five minutes in sparkly 6-inch heels without wanting to saw off my feet immediately. Alas, it's not meant to be.

It does, however, mean that most of my footwear collection is made up of comfort-first sneakers, flats, and the occasional low-block heeled sandal for more formal occasions. Luckily, I haven't necessarily had to sacrifice stylishness just because I have to prioritize the health of my feet. I've found many versatile and timeless shoes over the years that don't make me regret putting them on, and recently, my favorite has been Dansko's Sky Sneakers. They're so utterly comfortable that I feel like I'm walking on clouds every time I step out in them, and they go so well with jeans and a tee on weekends.

Many athletic shoes aren't easy on the eyes, so classic plain white sneakers that are supportive and comfortable always get five stars in my book. Dansko sent the Sky sneakers to me to test out, and I had a feeling they would be stellar: The brand has long been loved by shoppers and healthcare workers for its iconic wear-all-day clogs, which I've also tested and loved. The Sky sneakers provide similarly soft-yet-sturdy cushioned footbeds, so for people like me with flat arches, they really hold up against my body weight.

The best part, however, is how incredibly lightweight they are. They are so breathable and immediately stretchy, the first thought I had after trying them on was just how eager I was to take them for a test run without feeling the need to even break them in. I couldn't help myself but do a few jumps and bounce around my apartment after trying them on for the first time, and on days when it's sweltering near 95 degrees Fahrenheit, these shoes don't make me sweat through my socks—even under the sun.

Plus, the shoes are made with recycled, odor-resistant linings, and the outer material of the sneakers are stain-resistant after being treated with 3M's Scotchgard protector. I hate having to clean white sneakers all the time, but so far, after wearing the Sky sneakers weekly and even on rainy days, I only have to quickly wipe off any mud for the shoes to look as good as new.

They're my go-to this summer for supportive athletic sneakers that don't sacrifice an ounce of style for comfort. Shop them below at Nordstrom for $120 in both the ivory and black colorways.
