Affordable, filling, and endlessly adaptable, baked potatoes are a weeknight classic. At their best, baked potatoes are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—a blank canvas for toppings. When you bake potatoes, make sure to bake a few extra so that you can enjoy them throughout the week. Baked potatoes are exceptional for meal prep, since they keep well in the fridge and can be jazzed up in countless ways. Stick to a classic combination like sour cream, Cheddar, and chives, or experiment with new flavors like corn, black beans, and salsa, or kale, leeks, and Gruyère.

Need to know how to reheat a baked potato? Here, we share four methods for reheating baked potatoes, including our favorite method for crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside perfection.

How to Reheat a Baked Potato in the Microwave

The speediest way to reheat a baked potato is in the microwave, so if you’re in a pinch, this is the method for you. We recommend cutting the potato in half and covering the cut sides with a damp paper towel, so that they warm all the way through and don’t dry out.

  1. Cut leftover baked potato in half lengthwise, and place each half cut side up on a microwave-safe dish.
  2. Cover each cut side with a damp paper towel.
  3. Heat the halved potato for about 3 minutes, or until heated through.

How to Reheat a Baked Potato in the Air Fryer

The air fryer reheats a baked potato quickly and effectively, so if you have one in your arsenal, it’s a great option. There’s only so much room in the air fryer basket, though, so you can’t reheat very many spuds at a time.

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees.
  2. Place potato in air fryer basket.
  3. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until heated through.

How to Reheat a Baked Potato on the Stove

To make sure the baked potato heats evenly on the stove, bring it to room temperature and cut it in half before adding it to the skillet.

  1. Remove baked potato from the refrigerator, slice in half lengthwise, and let come to room temperature.
  2. Add a small amount of olive oil to a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Place the potato cut side down on the skillet, and let it warm up.
  4. Put the lid on to steam the potato and help it warm all the way through.

The Best Way to Reheat a Baked Potato

In our opinion, the most reliable way to reheat a baked potato is by popping it in the oven. The skin crisps up beautifully, and the interior gets hot and fluffy. Plus, you can reheat a whole rack of baked potatoes in one go.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place potato on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack, and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through.
