This Bloody Mary has a secret ingredient, and it’s one that’s likely sitting in your fridge already: the pickle jar. Stretch the jar of pickles and use the pickle juice to shake up a Bloody Mary with other classic ingredients like vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco. The addition of pickle juice gives the drink a distinctly delicious briny flavor, and it’s a game-changer. For a zero-proof Bloody Mary, make it with non-alcoholic vodka or gin, which are rising in popularity and more widely available than ever.

Ingredients

  • Ice

  • 3/4 cup tomato juice

  • 1/3 cup pickle juice

  • 1/3 cup vodka

  • 2-3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

  • 2-3 dashes hot sauce

  • Cornichons, for garnish

  • Celery stalks, for garnish

  • Olives, for garnish

  • Lemon wedges, for garnish

Directions

  1. Add ice to 2 tall glasses.

  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tomato juice, pickle juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce, if using. Cover and shake until outside of shaker is frosted, about 30 seconds.

  3. Strain into prepared glasses. Garnish with desired toppings.
