As a skeptic of celebrity beauty brands, I tend to avoid A-lister-helmed products. However, some brands are too talked-about to ignore, such as Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty. The makeup brand, founded in 2019, is undeniably one of the buzziest companies to date. After stubbornly holding off, I finally realized I was doing myself a disservice by not trying it.

To dip my toes in, I picked up all five new spring launches that beauty influencers are raving about on TikTok: the Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter, Positive Light Under Eye Brightener, and three shade extensions of the already-popular Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick. Keep reading for my thoughts on all five new Rare Beauty products.

Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter

I initially thought my favorite product would be the under-eye brightener, but it turns out that this highlighter is my new obsession. This cool champagne shade (also available in champagne gold, true gold, and rose bronze) packs a punch with its impressive pigmentation. When I applied it with my finger, I immediately fell in love with its silky texture. With just one swipe, my cheekbones were beaming with the perfect amount of glow. But the best part? It gave my skin a natural, subtly reflective glass-like finish sans chunky sparkles.

Positive Light Under Eye Brightener

As a fan of multipurpose makeup, I couldn't wait to try this fan-favorite under-eye brightener. This lightweight liquid isn't a concealer, but it is the ultimate refresh button for your undereye area. I tested it on bare skin and over concealer, and it worked like a charm both ways, blending in effortlessly for a visibly brighter look. I especially loved the cooling metal applicator; it was like a little spa treatment for my undereyes, perfect for soothing wine-induced puffiness.

Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream

I used to swear by long-lasting matte lipstick back in the 2010s, but now I've done a complete 180 and prefer tinted lip balms and non-sticky glosses. However, I made an exception for Gomez's matte lip cream and it did not disappoint. The brand just released three new shades for spring—Elevate, Confident, and Kindness—and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the texture is. It's silky-smooth, weightless, and hydrating, so it won't flake off during the day, nor make your lips feel like they’re suffocating in product. The finish is highly pigmented and matte, but not as long-lasting as what I used to wear. That said though, comfort is my top priority now, so I'm happy with the switch.
