Granola and Yogurt Bars Recalled From Walmart Stores in 28 States Due to Listeria

Clio Snacks is voluntarily recalling 581 cases of its Strawberry Granola & Greek Yogurt Parfait Bars due to Listeria concerns. The New Jersey-based brand distributed the now-recalled product between March 5 and March 8, 2023, to Walmart stores in 28 states across the country, including California, Florida, and Massachusetts. Additionally, the recalled bars come in a single-serving box with the UPC Code 854021008152, the Lot Number 048C2023, and an expiration date of April 30, 2023 stamped on the side. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, no other Clio Snacks products are being recalled.

Per the FDA, the recall was initiated after the result of a routine testing program by Clio Snacks revealed that Listeria was found at a third-party manufacturer’s facility where the granola and Greek yogurt bars are produced. Said manufacturer has ceased production, and Clio has stopped distribution of the affected product while the FDA continues their investigation into what caused the issue.

While there have been no illnesses related to this recall to date, Listeria can cause serious and occasionally fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Healthy individuals infected with Listeria may experience high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

Consumers who have purchased Clio Strawberry Granola & Yogurt Parfait bars with an expiration date of April 30, 2023 should not consume them, and are urged to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
