Say what you want about TikTok, but it's proven time and time again that it's TikTok’s world and we’re all just living in it (at least when it comes to beauty trends). We’ve seen some of the most iconic beauty movements to date this year on the platform, from Hailey Bieber’s hyped glazed donut nails and brownie-glazed lips to the ultimate hack for achieving salon-worthy curls without heat damage thanks to heatless curls. While some were… questionable to say the least, others are sure to see us through to 2023 and beyond. As a year-end tribute, we’re taking a look at some of the best and most popular TikTok beauty trends of 2022.

Glazed Donut Nails

When Hailey Bieber debuted her glazed donut nails at this year’s Met Gala, salons were soon inundated with requests to re-create it. The trend inspo comes from manicurist Zola Ganzorigt, who thankfully isn’t one for product gatekeeping. While the OPI products mentioned are only available to nail professionals, we’ve got you covered with similar alternatives.

Skin Cycling

The skin cycling hashtag boasts a cool 180 million views on TikTok and is all about “cycling through your evening skincare products to maximize results and minimize irritation,” according to Whitney Bowe, M.D., board-certified dermatologist and creator of the skin cycling method. It’s believed that by dedicating night one to exfoliation, night two to retinoid, and nights three and four to letting the skin recover with moisturizing and hydrating products, you’ll help repair the skin barrier and get the best results from your active ingredients.

Copper Hair

Copper hair is one of the hottest trends of the moment with the likes of Kendall Jenner and SZA both showing off their fiery looks, further proving it works on just about everyone. Whether you’re opting for a box dye or leaving it to the professionals, it’s a fun hair color trend that experts predict will continue into 2023.

Cold Girl Makeup

An ode to frosty pink cheeks and radiant-looking skin, the "cool girl" makeup trend combines the best bits from a cold winter’s day and turns it into an aesthetic. It’s a trend that you can make work with the products you already own, whether it’s taking a generous sweep of blush across the cheeks and nose or hydrating the lips with a glossy lip oil.

Shag Cut

The "shag cut" hashtag is sweeping TikTok with an impressive 206 million views and proves that whether your hair is straight, curly, or coily, we can all get the choppy, layered look. It takes inspiration from other current trending hairstyles like the wolf cut and shullet (short mullet) for another modern take.

Skin Slugging

For those with drier skin types, the skin slugging trend has become the ultimate go-to for preventing water loss and sealing in moisture. To try the trend, simply do your evening skincare routine as normal, but apply a thin layer of a petroleum-based moisturizer as the last step overnight. Remove any excess in the morning during your cleanse for uber-plumped, hydrated skin.

Euphoria Makeup

Early January 2022 saw the start of Euphoria season two, and once again the beauty looks did not disappoint. Since its 2019 launch, viewers have been mesmerized by the characters' endless glistening and unique makeup looks, which the show’s makeup head Donni Davy has documented on her Instagram. From glitter tears and graphic eyeliner to face gems, party makeup will always be a source of beauty inspiration.

Getting the perfect all-year-round glow couldn’t be easier to achieve with this K-Beauty-inspired trend. Brands like Peach and Lily, Glow Recipe, and Innisfree offer products like dewy jelly-textured moisturizers and niacinamide-infused dew drops to help you re-create the glass skin trend at home.

Micro French Tip Nails

Nail simplicity has found its calling this year, and Pinterest predicts that it will be the top nail trend leading into 2023. Take micro French tip nails, which takes the classic French mani and makes it even thinner. Several viral TikTok videos document how you can do it yourself at home—simply apply a neutral base all over the nail and add a thin stroke on the nail tip in a classic white or a pop of color.

Face-Lifting Concealer

Does contouring confuse you? No sweat—you don’t need to be a makeup artist to do TikTok’s face-lifting concealer hack, which is all about applying your concealer higher up on your cheekbones and blending it out for the perfect look.
